Amy Scattergood is the food blog editor at LA Weekly, a former staff writer for the Los Angeles Times food section, and the co-author with Kim Boyce of Good to the Grain, a whole grain baking cookbook published March 2010 from Stewart, Tabori & Chang. She is a graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop and Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Pasadena.

Food Writing for Blogs and Print: Translate What's on Your Plate
- In this class, we'll look at what makes a good food story and consider how voice, content and reporting all contribute to the piece
- We'll examine the work of various writers and discuss how different techniques operate.
- We'll examine the evolution of the genre from old media stories to food blogs, and see how the style and content have changed.

- how POV has changed with the internet
- how to write a recipe
- why food photography is increasingly important
